Two standing committees visiting in April

The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense, as well as The Standing Committee on Energy and Environment, visited Ny-Ålesund on April 21st to April 22nd.
The Standing Committee on Energy and the Environment spent the night in Ny-Ålesund.
The Committee of Foreign Affairs and Defense arrived with the Coast Guard during the night. On Thursday morning they were given a brief of current activities in Ny-Ålesund, as well as a tour of the town, including a visit to the Kongsfjorden shop. Before flying out on from Hamnerabben airport, they briefly met their colleagues in the Committee of Energy and the Environment as they were trading places.
 
 
The Standing Committee of Foreign Affairs and Defense visited Ny-Ålesund in April, and had, among other things, a lecture in the Kings Bay Marinelaboratory.

The Standing Committee on Energy and the Environment's visit began with a brief at the Norwegian Polar Institute before lunch, and then continued on with visits and briefs at Awipev and the Kings Bay Marinelab. After a quick stop at the shop, part of the group were able to visit the Zeppelin observatory, where they could enjoy the best view on Svalbard.

After a nice dinner, the evening ended in the Amundsen Villa for a social gathering.The morning after, the group paid a visit to the Norwegian Mapping authority, where they had a lecture on the earth's changes in gravity and movements.
