The best view in town

Harbourmaster Dag Lennart Andersson and his deputy Nils Ole Nilsen undeniably have one of the best views in town from their office windows. Many would agree that it's probably one of the better office-window views in Svalbard, perhaps even in Norway! With more than a 180 degree visual towards fjord, mountains and glacier, there is no need for fancy photographs or glossy calendars.

"Daily life" visited the harbourmaster's office on one of the busiest day during summer; the ship Costa Pacifica anchored in Ny-Ålesund, carrying approximately 3.000 passengers and 1.000 crew members. As it was, the Costa Pacifica guests and crew were a very organized group, patiently standing in line to the post office, the shop, the makeshift toilets, the tender boats etc etc…
