A few days ago, the Ny-Ålesund Symposium 2016 was concluded. From the 19th to the 21st of September, 40 to 50 people from around the globe gathered in the newly completed Kongsfjord hall to discuss topics related to Planet Ocean.

The patron of the Symposium, H.R.H. Crown Prince Haakon attended the symposium alongside with some of the world's foremost scientists, top leaders from various industries, and Norwegian politicians. The host of this year's symposium was Mr. Per Sandberg, Norway's minister of fisheries.
Important themes such as climate change and effects on the ocean, the future of sustainable harvest of marine resources, and the challenges and possibilities surrounding the clean-up of the oceans, were presented and thoroughly discussed.
