Onsdag 29. mars ble Kongsfjordbutikken, et bygg med to etasjer på over 100 tonn, skjøvet til siden med håndmakt.
På grunn av råte i de eksisterende pelefundamentene, har Kongsfjordbutikken blitt flyttet til siden over på et midlertidig fundament. Her vil det bli stående mens nye fundamenter bores ned tilfast fjell. 10 .- 12 mann stod for flyttingen i løpet av 4-5 timer. Planen er å flytte bygget tilbake igjen i slutten av april
Ansettelse av sesongarbeidere sommeren 2023 er i full gang.
Også denne sommeren har Kings Bay behov for ekstra hjelp på flere avdelinger, ved søknadsfristens utløp hadde vi mottatt i underkant av 300 søknader. Det jobbes for tiden med å lese søknader og å intervjue aktuelle kandidater.
Stillingene som sesongarbeider har et engasjement på 3-6 måneders varighet i perioden april til september. Konkrete arbeidsoppgaver og lengde av oppholdet er avhengig av den totale sammensettingen av sommerpersonalet.
UiT is visiting Ny-Ålesund to test their unmanned surface vehicle (USV). The video shows the USV in Kongsfjorden near Kongsvegen glacier. The crew is on board Kings Bay’s MS Teisten.
Refurbishment inside the museum cabin was completed in 2019. These days, the exterior work is being completed. An extra coat of paint and the “skirt” complete the cabin.
When you are in Ny-Ålesund, a visit to this cabin is recommended. You will find original packaging from the fifties, furnitures, toys, some clothing and shoes all from when families used to live in the cottage.
Norway’s Minister for climate and environment, Sveinung Rotevatn, visited Ny-Ålesund from the 28th to the 29th of June to officially open the renovated Service Building. Servicebygget is the most central building in Ny-Ålesund. the building contains the offices and reception of Kings Bay, as well as a kitchen, dining hall, laundry and common areas for all residents and researchers in Ny-ålesund. During his stay, minister Rotevatn also had the opportunity to join a boat trip on Kongsfjorden.
